About the Jewels of the Wild West® Game

Jewels of the Wild West® is a mixture of a Match 3 puzzle and a city builder. The game’s narrative is full of the fascinating references and griping development of events that make players entirely immerse in the Wild West atmosphere and entirely dedicate themselves to the challenges of the gameplay process. In the beginning, the player assumes control of a builder character and takes on a mission to rebuild the Colinstown – a frontier outpost far in the Old West that is endangered by the fearsome gang.

The uniqueness of the Jewels of the Wild West® game art style

The Jewels of Wild West game art is noticeable for its casual style that at the same time comes quite close to realism. To make it work, our game artists have to check a lot of visual references in order to adhere to the overall direction and display all the details of the art correctly. If having failed to do so, the art might result in looking out of place among the previously completed pieces of the artwork.

The key challenges for the artists

Working with illustrations on this project requires attention to the visual similarity of the characters with their references and being designed as close as possible to the original sketches. In the process, the art direction requires constantly checking with the existing illustrations to maintain the uniformity of the art style. Another mandatory requirement of the project is to observe the authenticity of lighting, color, volume, texture and surface, without going beyond the essentials of the casual art style at the same time. From the artist’s position, that requires close adherence to the art direction, constant checking with the guidelines, excellent communication, and, what is most important – being ready to improve upon receiving feedback.

The project outcome

Among the artwork displayed above, you can see a selected highlight of the illustrations made for the loading screens, contextual in-game scenes, and the Time-Limited Events that have been regularly held within the game engaging the players to come and stay in this Wild West story. Even if there are more illustrations to come, these have become something we really enjoyed working on, especially given that the style is based on the solid research and visual references provided by our dear partners at G5 Entertainment. This mutual cooperation has made our work go smoothly and rewarding for everyone involved. At the moment, our art team is looking forward to delivering more artwork for the G5 games, including Match 3, Puzzles, Adventures, and Hidden Object games which keep staying at the top of their genres’ popularity.
