List of Best Cozy Games in 2025

Let’s take a look at the list of games that can be both fun and relaxing, in a comfortable, home-like way. We wanted to highlight some games that came out recently, as well as the cult classics you may want to try out if you haven’t already!

In addition, we want to point out that all of these games, which are presented on Steam, are Playable or Verified on Steam Deck. So you can use it as the best cozy games on the Steam Deck list as well. Doesn’t get comfier than that!

Ways of Alchemy

There are tons of cards to discover and interact with – potions, ingredients, characters, books, artifacts, places, food, and even foes. All of them have meticulously drawn art that feels medieval and cozy.

Genre: Card game | Developer: RocketBrush Games | Release Date: 2025

At its core, Ways of Alchemy is a card game, but it’s actually many things at once: a farming game, a crafting game, an alchemist’s simulator and even a resource management game.

Its goal is to put you into the shoes of a medieval alchemist, who gets an inheritance and starts from scratch – his old shack turns into a mansion, his knowledge becomes more powerful, he gains the respect of townfolks and eventually he paves his way to discover the secret of the legendary philosopher’s stone. This path is something you have to take, enjoying the slow-paced experience full of surprises and interesting encounters.

This is what makes it so cozy: you can relax and enjoy the every day life of an alchemist, learn how to deal with the obstacles, discover new stuff either by experimentation or following recipes and slowly but surely make your way to new heights, feeling the satisfying progression as you discover more stuff to play with.  All this stuff makes it one of the best cozy games for PC.

Key features:

  • 15 different subclasses to choose from, depending on your playstyle: become an alchemist or discover the forbidden knowledge of necromancy.
  • Big replayability, thanks to a non-linear narrative, leading to 13 different endings, based on your choices throughout the game.
  • Heaps of secrets and rewards to discover – send your loyal adventurers and hired hands on expeditions and see what the unknown lands will bring to you.
  • A cozy option to both experiment and discover things by yourself or follow the recipes – no need to worry about getting things wrong!
  • Five pillars of reality, each representing a totally different aspect of alchemy. If you enjoy getting deep into things, this is the perfect game to lose yourself in!

Sun Haven

Genre: Farming sim / RPG | Developer: Pixel Sprout Studios | Release Date: 2023

Sun Haven starts traditionally for cozy games: your character moves to a new town and starts a new life on a quiet farm. Then it quickly becomes something much bigger...

This pixelated game combines a slice-of-life farming simulator with RPG elements, letting you choose your own pace as you start to develop your farm, make new friends in the town, explore the world and even defeat monsters (if that’s your thing, of course).

Sun Haven the kind of game where you can spend a morning farming your crops and taking care of things in your beautiful garden, then – an afternoon learning new magic spells and an evening going on a date with a demon or a dragon — all that while wrapped in warm and cozy visuals and relaxing music that fits the whole experience so well.

Key features:

  • You can play solo or do it online in co-op with up to 8 friends, discovering stuff together.
  • Three cozy little towns to explore, each full of unique characters and plots to learn and experience.
  • Sun Haven’s gameplay regularly brings something for you to enjoy: farming, going fishing, fighting, going to mines and starting romances — or all of the above if that suits your playstyle.

The Sims series

Genre:
Life simulation | Developer: Maxis / EA | Release date: 2000 - nowadays

At this point in gaming history, The Sims series is one of the best cozy games of all time, the ultimate relaxing sandbox for those who love life simulators, human experiments (just kidding!) and that warm feeling of seeing humane things happening in a small dollhouse that you created. You can pick up any game from the series, but The Sims 3 and 4 feel like an ultimate experience if you haven’t played the series before.

It’s much easier to say what you can’t do in The Sims. You can build the perfect dream house. You can discover new careers for your characters based on you, your friends or your ideals. You can also create chaotic, dramatic love stories with your digital neighbors. Or you can go completely crazy and still have fun creating different scenes, which manage to be hilarious and cozy at the same time – you’re the creator of this mess! There’s something incredibly relaxing about guiding your Sims through the ups and downs of everyday life in our modern, post-industrial society.

Despite the often absurd moments you can come up with, this franchise is a surprisingly meditative experience — watching your Sims make breakfast, water their precious plants or fall in love with a co-worker can feel like a warm hug after a long day of a life that feels exactly like the ones your Sims experience.

Key features:

  • Deep character creation tools with numerous types of traits, aspirations and life goals – to create the character of your dreams (or nightmares, if you want to see how it goes)
  • You can decorate and build homes with endless creativity and style – sky is the limit. There are also heaps of mods and DLCs for new stuff if old one gets boring.
  • Control every part of your Sims’ everyday life — or just watch them do their own thing, based on a character you made for them.

Minecraft

Use your imagination and create all types of places you can come up with – Minecraft is perfect for that. (Image source: Microsoft Store)

Genre: Sandbox / Survival| Developer: Mojang Studios | Release Date: 2011

Minecraft isn’t just a game — it’s a peaceful escape from our reality at this point! A place where time slows down and your only task is to create, explore and exist in a world that’s entirely your own – each new world is uniquely made for you to play with.

The procedure is well-known for everyone who plays games: start small, punch a tree, build a shelter to survive your first night, plant a few seeds, go and seek new materials. Quickly, that tiny, boxy hut becomes a cozy cabin full of chests, tools and paintings, surrounded by fields of wheat and sugar canes… and maybe even a llama or two? Every step feels rewarding, whether you’re decorating your home with flower pots or wandering into a forest just to see what’s on the other side of this world full of cubes.

What is the best part? There’s no wrong way to play and perhaps, that’s why it remains popular for more than ten years since its official release and much more since its first iteration. Minecraft simply invites you to chill: build in Creative, gather in Survival or just stroll through the pixelated landscapes and listen to the music that quietly plays in the background, like a lullaby.

Key features:

  • Completely open-ended: farm, craft, build, and explore however you want. And a Peaceful mode lets you enjoy the world without any danger — perfect for slow, cozy play sessions.
  • You can share your space with friends via co-op or enjoy quiet solitude in single-player – totally up to you and your play style.
  • Tons of ways to personalize your world with community mods, shaders, and textures that can make everything feel different and even cozier.

Tiny Glade

Something that looks like a cozy painting you saw in childhood – Tiny Glade allows you to create things like that and more. (Image source: Steam)

Genre: Creative sandbox | Developer: Pounce Light | Release Date: 2024

Tiny Glade is a peaceful building simulator that became incredibly popular among cozy games fans and quickly became one of the best cozy games on Steam.

There are no complex goals, no enemies to fight, no pressure to worry about — just soft, green landscapes and the absolute creative freedom to construct little medieval castles and courtyards, straight up from your imagination and dreams. Everything feels pleasantly tactile and magical, from the way walls gently curve to how ivy grows across stone over time, you take to finish the construction.

It feels not just like a cozy game, but more like the cozy experience — the type where your imagination is in charge of everything that happens and everything else just simply follows along.

Key features:

  • Absolutely zero stress presented in the game: no objectives, resource management or failure states – it’s all made for you to relax and have fun.
  • Intuitive, cozy building system that reacts organically – you can build whatever you want, basically.
  • Serene music and a relaxing visual style inspired by countryside vibes can easily put you into the chill and cozy state of mind – perfect to create something truly beautiful.

Wanderstop

Lots of stuff to do – looking at the gorgeous scenery is one of such tasks. (Image source: Steam)

Genre: Narrative exploration / Life sim | Developer: Ivy Road | Release Date: 2025

One of the most recent games in our list of best cozy games of all time – it must be really good then, right? Right! Wanderstop isn’t just a game about running a tea shop, as it may seem at first glance — it’s a relaxing, soulful journey about getting rest, changing and healing.

You play as a character who starts a teahouse in a forest, serving travelers and adventurers, brewing tea and trying to make peace with the past you walked away from. Developed by creators who came up with a post-modern art game, The Stanley Parable, Wanderstop is a different approach to game-making: it’s a meditation on burnout and recovery, something very common in the game industry.

In this game, things change in general: the forest changes, your patrons change, and maybe, over time, you do too, as the in-game avatar and you as the real person. Wanderstop wraps complex, humane themes in a blanket of cozy daily ritual and quiet moments, encouraging you to slow down and sit and think about whatever you're feeling – chances are, you may find the answer to a difficult question.

Key features:

  • In Wanderstop, you have to brew and serve tea to unique characters with their own stories to tell – all at relaxing pace.
  • A narrative focus on the personal transformation of the main character – something everyone can relate to.
  • A beautifully stylized world full of nature and stillness that deserves to be observed and admired.

Stray

Ah, to be a cat on the roof of a neon hellscape! (Image source: Steam)

Genre: Adventure / Exploration | Developer: BlueTwelve Studio | Release Date: 2022

In Stray, game developers put you into the shoes… no, paws, of a small orange cat who got lost in a decaying cyberpunk city populated by robots and neon signs. It’s a game about finding your way home, but it’s also about the quiet joy of being a cat — knocking things off shelves, curling up in safe corners, and meowing at strangers.

Despite the dystopian setting, Stray feels surprisingly cozy, thanks to its careful pacing, ambient exploration and the simple, heartwarming comfort of existing in the world as something small, orange and curious. It may seem like a dark tale, but don’t be fooled – it’s truly one of the best cozy games on Steam.

Key features:

  • A deeply atmospheric world, full of vibes, combining cozy, narrow alleyways and sci-fi ruins and remnants.
  • There’s an assistant – a companion drone named B-12, who helps with going forward and hacking stuff – the world may be unfriendly, but you’re not on your own!
  • Relaxing moments like sleeping, nuzzling robots or just watching the rain fall – being a cat is a pretty cozy experience after all.

Donut County

Humor is probably the best thing about Donut County - it's pretty unique and never fails to make you laugh. (Image source: Steam)

Genre: Puzzle | Developer: Ben Esposito | Release Date: 2018

In Donut County, you control… a hole in the ground. So that’s why it’s called a donut, you may think. That’s right — a hole that swallows everything below it and grows bigger and bigger with each “haul”. It’s hilarious, it’s kind of weird, and somehow, it’s also incredibly cozy, considering how relaxing it is to swallow everything in the game’s levels.

You play through a light-hearted story full of quirky characters to get acquainted with, simple puzzles to solve quickly and charming humor to laugh at. It’s the kind of game that makes you smile as you mindlessly eat up park benches, raccoons and entire buildings, all while uncovering an oddly cute and cozy narrative beneath all this absurdity. A game may seem a bit simplistic, but give it a shot and you will see that it is truly one of the best cozy games for PC and consoles.

Key features:

  • A super satisfying and simple game mechanic of eating and swallowing everything up.
  • Beautiful, saturated and vibrant art and playful storytelling create a pleasant impression.
  • Short and sweet — perfect for a cozy afternoon videogame session.

A Short Hike

Good advice, even for a short hike - and don't forget about being cozy, too! (Image source: Steam)

Genre: Adventure | Developer: Adam Robinson-Yu | Release Date: 2019

A Short Hike is exactly what the title says — a brief but heartfelt hike to the top of the mountain. You play as Claire, a bird visiting a unique island park, trying to get cell reception at the top of Hawk Peak. But the real magic, as it usually happens, lies in the journey, not the destination. And the journey in A Short Hike, along with a short playtime – it will take you about 4 to 5 hours –  is what makes it one of the best cozy games on Steam Deck.

The world is full of life: you can fish, find treasures, race fellow birds, chat with campers and glide across the breeze. It’s wholesome, relaxing and full of genuine charm — like a playable summer memory from your childhood – doesn’t get cosier than that.

Key features:

  • Open-ended exploration with no pressure — go where you like, at your pace.
  • Quirky characters and subtle humor in every corner – it’s a short hike, not a boring one!
  • Pixel art visuals that feel nostalgic and modern at the same time, which work so well with the game’s overall vibe.

Unpacking

In Unpacking, you have to learn about the main character through the environments. (Image source: Steam)

Genre: Puzzle | Developer: Witch Beam | Release Date: 2021

Unpacking is a game about moving from places and from life periods  — but not in the stressful, chaotic way. Gameplay-wise, you unpack boxes after moving to a new place, place objects where they should be placed and slowly connect the dots of someone’s life through their belongings.

Unpacking is full of small details: the worn toy pig plush that follows you through the years, the way a room changes as your character does. It’s also immensely cozy: there are no timers, no wrong answers — just a meditative process of discovery, memory and finding the right place. That’s why it’s universally considered to be one of the best cozy games of all time.

Key features:

  • A unique narrative told entirely through objects, full of details and interesting observations to discover.
  • It’s all about relaxing gameplay and your own discoveries – no rush, just enjoy the process.
  • It’s also pleasant visually and sonically: beautiful pixel art environments that evolve with each move accompany pleasant sounds that all objects make.
